From Linda Larsen, your Guide to Busy Cooks
The Oscars certainly has snuck up on me! I remember when they used to be held in late March ... but then that was 30 years ago. This weekend is the big event. Gather some friends and some great food and have fun! Oh, and you can definitely make it more interesting by having everyone write down who they think will win - and have small prizes in store!

Host an Oscars Party
You can throw an impromptu party on Sunday celebrating the glitz and glamor of Hollywood with a selection of quick and easy make-ahead appetizer recipes. And I've thrown in easy menus for the rest of the weekend so you have time to get ready! Pull out your best dress and jewels for the party, and don't forget your high heels!

Wordless Wednesday

Risotto
Risotto is one of the great dishes of the world. And it's one of the most inexpensive! All you need is some rice (it doesn't have to be short grain Arborio rice - see Chicken Risotto), some good broth, and patience. There's really no more comforting dish - it's like rice pudding but savory and so satisfying. Try it!

Start With ... Fresh Salmon
Salmon is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. It's bursting with omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamins, and minerals. It may help reduce the chance of developing heart disease and Alzheimers. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends eating some type of fatty fish at least twice a week. Salmon is easy to prepare, easy to find, and so delicious.
