From Robert Silva, your Guide to Home Theater
Welcome to latest edition of the Home Theater Newsletter! This week I have an interesting review of LG's top-of-line Blu-ray Disc player. Also, check out an overview of the newly-formed 3D Audio Alliance. Mitsubishi has an idea on how to improve LCD TVs, and Panasonic intros some ground-breaking Blu-ray Disc recorders in the U.K. As a reminder, if you haven't voted in the Readers' Choice Awards, cast your vote today!

LG BD590 Network Blu-ray Player w/250GB Hard Drive - Review
In a departure from the typical Blu-ray Disc Player review here on the About.com Home Theater Site, contributing writer Barb Gonzalez has done an analysis of the networking and media player functions of the LG BD590 Blu-ray Disc Player for your consideration. The LG BD590 network Blu-ray Disc player is unique because it is both network-enabled and has a built-in 250 GB hard drive. LG's BD590 networking features are easy to use and the player provides access to some of the most popular online content, including Netflix, Vudu, Cinema Now, Pandora and Napster. What is the 3D Audio Alliance?
3D video has put the spotlight on how we also think of audio. Surround sound is always referred to in terms of the number of channels and speakers used in the playback system. This places limitations on the sound mixer and listener. It is being proposed by the newly formed 3D Audio Alliance, that a royalty-free agnostic algorithm be developed that would allow soundtracks to mixed according to the location and movement of objects in 3 dimensional space rather than for a specific number of speakers in a particular playback setup. Netgear WiFi Internet Adapter - Product of the Week
Unlike the USB WiFi dongles, the Netgear Universal Wifi Internet Adapter connects to your device using an Ethernet cable. Once this WiFi unit is set up by connecting it to your computer, you can use it for any of your network media players or network devices. You can even move it from device to device as needed. The network media player or component thinks it is connecting to the home network via Ethernet connection. There is no need for additional setup; the device immediately connects to the home network. For all the details, read the Netgear WNCE2001 Universal Wifi Internet Adapter Review by About.com contributing writer, Barb Gonzalez.
