Website Submission to Yahoo's Directory

Aside from offering a search engine, Yahoo has a human-controlled directory as well. Consider being listed by this directory because it provides opportunities of being seen by Yahoo's search engine crawlers.

Register URLs in the Yahoo Directory

Standard website submission is free, while Yahoo Express is paid. Why is that, you ask? The Standard option is actually for non-commercial websites. This means that if your website sells shoes, your site will likely not be reviewed and accepted by the directory. If your site contains how-to articles on choosing footwear for various occasions, however, this website would be considered helpful, and therefore accepted.

For commercial websites, Yahoo suggests that website owners go for the Yahoo Express website submission option. Although the search engine submission fee doesn't guarantee being listed in the directory, majority of submitted websites are accepted.

Submitting to Crawler-Based Search Engines

Some of the most popular crawler-based search engines are Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Unlike directories, crawler-oriented search engines automatically index webpages in the listings. Thus, most, if not all, of your webpages will be listed instead of just your main page. Website submission also means that you have higher chances of ranking well if your website is well-developed.
