 | Spring has truly sprung, and with it, comes an increased awareness of how dear our cats are to us - a fitting month for first aid awareness. I'm sure most of us have experienced that panicky rush to the vet with a sick or injured cat. Insect stings, toxic garden plants, and heat stroke immediately come to mind. Time to bone up on our first aid knowledge, and hold our cats close to our hearts. | |
Cat Picture of the Week: Lucky
 In April we honor Special Needs Cats as our Cats of the Week. The one thing all special needs cats share is the fact that they can be active, loving companion cats, despite what we humans might call "disabilities."

Lucky certainly fits into that category, and she was well-named. She was adopted as a 12-week old kitten 14 years ago. Lucky was blind in one eye, and apparently rejected by her birth mother because of her condition. | April is National Pet First Aid Awareness Month
The American Red Cross has designated April as National Pet First Aid Awareness Month. Since in April, the Spring weather starts to warm up, the Red Cross first warns us about heat stroke in pets. Next, because we often think of gardening in April, avoiding plants toxic to pets is also a high priority. | Review: Next Gen Green Tea Leaves Cat Litter
Next Gen Green Tea Leaves Litter is lightweight, with a pleasant scent of green tea and wood. The 10 liter package was desceptively light in weight.I'd advise anyone who wants to try this litter to get a scooper with fairly wide gaps between the blades. I would also advise any users of this litter who live in California, or in any other state near bodies of water that harbor sea otters to disregard the "flushable" and "compostable" claims on the package, and dispose used litter for sanitation pick-up in closed plastic bags.
