From Franny Syufy, your Guide to Cats
It's hard to believe that it will be May in just a few more days. Wasn't last week February? Hang on with me for the ride, and hold tight to a kitty.

So many of us live in North America that we sometimes forget that beautiful cats live with loving families all over the world. We honor cats of the world here, to embrace both their differences and their similarities. These beautiful Siamese cats live in a provenance of Tokyo, Japan.

May Honors Tuxedo Cats

Tuxedo cats' striking colors: all black, with a white bib and sometimes white boots, have almost become a classic among cat lovers, and "tuxies" are favored worldwide. Years ago I select Tuxedo Cats for my Cat Pictures of the month, because they reminded me of the elegant tuxes often worn to senior proms, (and girls sometimes wear tuxes too.)

May is just around the corner, and it's not too early to submit your tuxie's photo and story. Even if you've already submitted his/her story last year, you may submit a new picture and story again this year, now or at any other time during the year.

Feline Hyperthyroidism

Perhaps hyperthyroidism is becoming more common in cats, or perhaps we are just becoming more aware of it. I know several forum members with hyper-T cats, and I now am entering my second experience with one, with my 9 year-old boy, Joey. Understanding feline hyperthyroidism goes a long way in preparing for your options, should that day arrive with your cat.

Preparing Your Cats for Disaster

This morning's news is all about the tornadoes in the southeast, with a mounting death toll. Many people survived by seeking refuge in a bathroom, as these four cats were doing several years ago.

No one wants to evacuate their homes, but if you are ever forced to do so, you will need to evacuate your cats too. Learn more about preparing your cats for disaster.
