From Franny Syufy, your Guide to Cats

Today is a bright Spring day here, fitting for the start of a long Easter weekend for many readers. Let's ensure that the Easter holiday is a safe time for our cats. Keep those chocolate bunnies wrapped and out of harm's way.

Spring Brings: Sunshine, Surprises, and Sneezes

Spring brings a panoply of surprises to homes with cats. Is your cat sneezing a lot lately? Cats are allergic too, and pollens can tickle the noses of even indoor-only cats. Notice Kitty horking up hairballs? Spring brings shedding, and cats need double-duty brushing and combing. Spring brings Easter and Passover, along with toxic chocolate bunnies and lillies. Read about the 10 wonders and worries that Spring brings to cat lovers.

A Short History of the Domestication of the Cat

Cats have come a long way from ancient Egypt, where they were worshiped as gods at the temples of Bastet. Of course we all know that cats have never forgotten that important fact. The cat has had a history of highs and lows, from being revered to being burned at the stake along with witches, during the middle ages. We can almost catch a glimpse of that history, by looking into the soulful eyes of a cat.

Walk with me through a brief tour of the history of the unforgettable cat.

Macca's Amazing Finest Hour

Last week I invited readers to share their cats' finest hour. This is truly the most amazing first-hand story I have ever read about a cat. In Hopemount's own words, "I'm sending a very old (April 1944) picture of the finest (I'm sure about it!) hour in the great life of my first cat Macca. He had wisely left us near Christmas-41, when we had nothing to share with him anymore - nor food, neither warmth: my Leningrad was in the tight Nazi siege, bombed, shelled and frozen."

Please read Macca's entire story and I think you will be as amazed as I am.
