A flexible building perimeter provides a seamless flow from inside to out that completely blends the built environment with the natural setting and the spectacular views. The Casa Torcida Residence was designed by SPG Architects and is located in Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. These house consists of 5 levels, and built on a land area of 18,000 square feet. The house is energy self-sufficient – appliances and lighting were chosen for low power consumption that is sourced by photo-voltaic cells on the roof. Solar hot water panels provide domestic hot water. Maximizing cross ventilation and ample overhangs have eliminated the need for air conditioning in this year-round tropical climate.

Modern Green Roof Architecture with Singapore Style by Guz Architects

Posted: 22 Jul 2011 07:26 PM PDT

Here is a impressive example of modern green roof architecture with Singapore style. Designed by Guz Architects, this green house is located on a new housing estate on the island of Sentosa adjacent to Singapore with stunning city views on the horizon, and the center of sweet serenity in its own backyard. The architects placed a wall on each side of the home, providing privacy from the neighboring properties. All that's left to enjoy are the breathtaking views, whether it's from the outdoor living rooms and terraces, the indoor-outdoor areas, the roof top loft, or the water features. The front and rear of the building meanwhile, terrace back allowing each storey to have visual or actual access to greenery and a central staircase takes you up a central light-filled stairwell and leads to the piece de resistance – the loft design idea with walkout to the second-storey garden, while itself featuring its own rooftop garden, creating the intimate feeling of single-storey living on every level.
