From Marie Iannotti, your Guide to Gardening

There are only a few months of the year when just about every gardener, everywhere, is out in the garden at the same time. Some of us are just peeking under the mulch and some are putting their gardens to bed, but it is still a treat to be outdoors. So you will all be delighted to hear that a new study has found that gardening is good exercise. Oh, you didn't need a study to tell you that?

Gardening Tip of the Week

Tulle Seed Row Cover: I have been having problems with sparrows picking off my plant seeds from my garden. My wife likes to sew and was using a material called "tulle" which is ideal to be used on top of the seed beds and birds are out of luck getting my seeds. The material can be found at Walmart. Very inexpensive too! Submitted by roland contreras

Thank you to everyone who has shared a tip. Keep them coming!

There are just 2 more days to get your photos in for the February/March Garden Photo Challenge, Houseplants. Not being an avid houseplant person, I had no idea how hard this challenge was going to be to judge. We've gotten photos of some amazing plants. I'm really humbled.

Got a gardening question? The place to ask it is on the About Gardening Forum. Please be aware that I am not always able to respond to emailed questions in a timely fashion.

And don't forget, you can connect with me on Twitter and Facebook, too.
