'I am on egg shells all the time,' says Janet.'" Amy offers a wonderful simile: "Stress is like water filling a container - different cats have their own container sizes before stress overflows. Ebony's container has filled to the brim with the new dog, the babysitting visitor dog, and all the other 'norma' stressors of everyday life. It doesn't matter that Ebony previously tolerated the other dogs - this one sloshed over the edge." When she does not get her way, or when it's time for my partner or I to leave the house for work, one of us will be attacked by her." Angy is beside herself as nothing she's tried has worked. Amy points out that because of her hearing loss, Perisha may not react the same as hearing cats, and teaches Angy how to defuse Perisha's angst about her leaving, by applying a little "cat psychology to associate Angy's going to work with pleasant things.
