Darn it all, late blight has reared its ugly head again. Best known for causing the Irish potato famine, late blight did a fine job of robbing the east coast of tomatoes two summers ago. Now late blight has been confirmed on tomatoes in Connecticut "...on tomatoes grown from farmer-saved seed, and on potatoes grown from organic seed pieces (cultivar 'Australian Crescent'). In Wisconsin, late blight has also been confirmed on potatoes seed." Take steps to prevent late blight in your garden.

Gardening Tip of the Week

Minimize Transplant Shock: Make transplanting easier on your plants by watering them well an hour before transplanting and planting them in late afternoon or on an overcast day.
